Donor Charter  

UNICEF Ireland’s Donor Charter is our promise to you that we will:

  • Treat all donors with respect and confidentiality
  • Ensure that our communication with you is honest and transparent
  • Respect your right to privacy
  • Not subject you to any form of undue pressure
  • Use your donation in a way the preserves the dignity of the children and their families whom UNICEF serves
  • Handle your donation responsibly and to the greatest advantage of the children and their families for whom it was intended
  • Remove your details from our database upon request

All donations will be:

  • Handled with the highest level of accuracy and transparency and financial records will be kept to ensure accountability and tracking
  • Applied to that purpose to which they were donated (unless the appeal has been fully funded, in which case you will be notified that it may be directed to another similar needy area)
  • Acknowledged within five working days unless no acknowledgement is reqested or insufficient contact details are provided.
  • Applied to the greatest advantage of the children and their families whom UNICEF assists
  • Subjected to an annual audit by a firm of independent Auditors, and will be available in UNICEF’s annual return to the Companies’ Office
  • Used solely for UNICEF’s work and will not be used by other organisations unless they are acting on UNICEF’s behalf

UNICEF Ireland’s staff will:

  • Be transparent, accurate and honest
  • Respond to email, letters and telephone enquiries, where necessary, within seven working days
  • Achieve the highest standards of professionalism at all times
  • Seek to minimise costs relating to fundraising activities
  • In the case of direct recruitment of direct debits, adhere to the Code of Practice developed by the Irish Fundraising Forum for Direct Recruitment (the IFFDR)
  • Adhere to the guidelines and requirements contained in the forthcoming Charties Bill
  • Comply with the Data Protection Act – UNICEF Ireland’s database will not be shared with any other organisation
