He ran the gap for children!

Jack is a brave UNICEF supporter who participated in the #RUNTHEGAP Challenge last year and ran more than a marathon to help the most vulnerable children.

Jack is a 23 years old student in Food and Agriculture Management in UCD. After his degree, he hopes to further his studies in Medicine at a graduate level.

” I am a sports fanatic. I have played various sports all my life on pretty much on a daily basis. So the outbreak of Covid-19 came as a bit of a shock to the system. Once the lockdown began, and when the sports clubs and gyms closed, like many others, I found myself getting agitated very easily. So I decided to start running regularly, something I never really did too often under normal circumstances. When restrictions eased in summer, I went back to playing team sports and using the facilities . But once we went into the level 5 again towards the end of October, I went back to running again. I saw on UNICEF’s page the running challenge, so it just clicked in my head that I was going to try to start training for a marathon and run it on that day and raise funds for UNICEF.  UNICEF, among others, are doing great work attempting to alleviate some of the pain and suffering being felt by millions. I have great admiration for the work that UNICEF does and felt inspired by this to go on and attempt to push myself and the boundaries of my physical capabilities.”

His favorite quote is “You must do the things you think you cannot do” from Eleanor Roosevelt.

Thank you Jack!
